Q.What is Chilish, exactly?
Chilish is an AI-powered English-learning app for Mandarin speakers, focused on natural, California-local phrasing — the way people actually talk here, not textbook English. It gives you real-time voice and text translation, roleplay practice scenarios, drafted replies in different registers, and a vocabulary garden where the words you save grow as plants.
Q.When can I get Chilish?
Chilish is coming soon to iOS — it isn't on the App Store yet. Join the waitlist and you'll get one email when it launches. No spam, just the launch.
Q.Is Chilish free?
Chilish is free to start. Chilish Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription (weekly, monthly, or yearly, each with a 7-day free trial) that unlocks the full experience, billed through your Apple ID. You'll always see the current price and billing period in the app before you subscribe.
Q.Do I need an account?
No. Chilish works anonymously by default — you can start practicing right away without a name or email. Sign in with Apple if you want your garden and saved phrases to follow you to a new device.
Q.Where do the translations come from? Is the AI training on my conversations?
Chilish uses OpenAI's API to generate translations, phrasing, roleplay dialogue, and pronunciation feedback. Your text and audio are sent to OpenAI solely to produce your response — we do not enable any model training, and OpenAI does not train on API content by default. AI output can be wrong; verify important translations with a qualified human translator.
Q.How do I cancel Chilish Premium?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Find Chilish in the list and tap Cancel. Your Premium access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Q.How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account from inside the app under Settings. You can also email [email protected] with the subject line "Data deletion request" and we will process your request within 30 days.
