Q.Is CardMax free?
CardMax is currently in beta and free to use. We will let you know in advance if anything changes — and any paid tier we introduce will be optional.
Q.Do you connect to my bank or credit card accounts?
No. CardMax never asks for your bank login, card numbers, or statement data. You add the cards you own from a public catalog and CardMax does the math from there.
Q.How does CardMax decide which card is best?
CardMax identifies the merchant and category from your photo, then for each card in your wallet computes its multiplier × the cash-equivalent value of its rewards points (depending on your goal: cash back, travel, or transfer-partner sweet spots) and ranks the result.
Q.The recommendation looks wrong for this merchant.
Merchant categories are tricky — Costco, Target, Whole Foods and others have well-known quirks. Email dapsdev.support@gmail.com with a screenshot of the recommendation and the merchant name and we'll adjust the override table.
Q.Where do my photos go?
Photos are uploaded to our backend and sent to OpenAI's vision API to identify the merchant and items. We do not train AI models on them. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.
Q.Is CardMax financial advice?
No. CardMax is a tool for surfacing rewards math; it is not financial, tax, or credit advice. Always read your card's terms before relying on a recommendation.
